What we've all been waiting for.. McRib sandwich is back at McDonald's. There have been debates regrading the ingredients of the boneless patty. Many people say different things but my question is why call it a McRib if there are no Ribs? its basically a pork patty shaped like a small slab of ribs with the bones being meat too. Just because i don't agree with name doesn't mean ill stop eating the McRib every time McDonald's decides to drop it on the menu.<br />

<br />
After decades of increasing profits and revenue, McDonald's missed the mark on October. The reason the mark was missed was because there were less Saturday's (busiest time for them) and after four years... they're competition made a little impact. Its not the end of the world, but i guess it doesn't look very good on the "bottom line." With the amount of cash McDonald's is generating, i don't think they should make such a big deal about 1 month.<br />

Tyree Johnson who is a McDonald's employee has worked for the company for 20 years is still earning only minimum wage. He's obviously received raises, but that's because minimum wage has gone up since he first started with McDonald's. He works at two different locations and still cannot complete 40 hours a week. This is absolutely depressing!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How can you work for a company who wont help you out financially? I think Jim Skinner (CEO) should go on Undercover Boss and have him roll up his sleeves and see how hard the work is. With that said, he should reconsider wages especially for an employee who's worked for the company for 20 years! </div>

It is a fact that McDonald's is one of the largest employers in the world. McDonald's estimates one in every eight Americans has worked at one of the chain's restaurants at some point in their life. They hire over a million workers each year in the United States alone. McDonald's employs over 761,000 people around the world with around 700,000 working domestically. Some of these celebrities have worked at McDonald's during their early years as high school of college students before they became famous. According to the article, "It is a popular place [for] high school and college students to work because of the flexible schedules, college scholarship opportunities and discounts on food." Statistically speaking, the fast food chain is in 11+ countries and sells over 75 burgers each second. That is like 68 million people eating at McDonald's each day. Imagine seeing one of these celebrities say, "Do you want fries with that?"</div>

<br />
Things are getting a little more convenient in Asia. The McDonald's there "allows customers to order food with their mobile phones, or from street kiosks, so that customers have multiple options while on the go." The kiosks are available so customers don't have to wait in line. In the United States, people still have to walk or drive to the physical restaurant and wait in line to order and receive food. In Asia, McDonald's uses the slogan "If you can't come to us, we'll come to you." Just like how many pizza restaurants already provide delivery service, McDonald's in Asia are emulating the trend. However, don't expect to see any of this in America any time soon because McDonald's already invested in a huge drive-through infrastructure. It would be great if the McDonald's in America would do deliveries also. If it is possible in Asia, it should be possible in America. Anyway, it is always nice to stay at home and wait for the food to come to me. I like the convenience even if I have to tip the delivery boy.<br />

According to the article, "Mind Candy has joined forces with McDonald's to launch a new North American Happy Meal promo for Moshi Monsters. The promo will run from December 14 through January 10, and participating restaurants will provide one of eight Moshi Monsters toy characters, including a new mystery Moshling, with every Happy Meal. Popular characters Katsuma, Poppet and Iggy will be offered while supplies last. Each toy also comes with a free three-day membership to MoshiMonsters.com." To promote the Moshi Monsters, McDonald's uses a full marketing campaign with television advertising, in-restaurant merchandising at more than 14,000 locations, custom packaging and online presence at happymeal.com. There are 70 million registered users in 150 territories worldwide. I, personally, never heard of Moshi Monsters. It has been a while since I've had a happy meal. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Jan Fields backed efforts to modernize McDonald's and make its food more healthful.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><div>
The president of McDonald's USA is on her way out because of the intense competition and unfavorable financial problems. She has held this position for more than two years. She will be replaced by Jeff Stratton, currently McDonald's global chief restaurant officer. According to spokeswoman Lisa McComb, "The time was right for this leadership change, a business decision by our senior management team." The reason for her termination is because most industry analysts believe that "top management and directors had lost confidence in her ability to turn around the U.S. division of the world's biggest burger chain." Despite Fields's efforts to promote more healthful food, consumers' enthusiasm didn't last. Investors are aware of the chain's slumping profits, "which fell 3.5% in the third quarter, to $1.45 billion, and sank 4.5% the previous quarter compared with the same periods last year." Thirty-five years ago, Fields started out making French fries, then rose through the ranks and has been called "one of the world's most powerful women on lists compiled by Forbes, Fortune and other financial publications." Recently she was credited with "helping to expand McDonald's McCafe premium beverage menu, updating its restaurants, reworking the Happy Meal to be more healthful and disclosing calorie counts at the chain's 14,000 American outlets." I think it is unfortunate that Jan Fields has been fired. She did the best she could to make McDonald's the most innovative fast food chain in the world. However, the competition has been closing the gap and "there's much less differentiation for McDonald's." Things should get better though as the holidays are coming soon. All the advertisements on television are persuading people to get the dollar menu value items. The low prices should lure many customers in to try them out.</div>

While visiting to another country, such as Japan, you might encounter things that are different. Take the Gracoro Burger for instance. Instead of a meat patty, it has "a creamy gratin korokke filled with white sauce, shrimp, and macaroni." The buns, the breadcrumbs, the white sauce, and the macaroni all have flour in it. However, these burgers aren't exactly new. Just like the McRib sandwich in the United States, the Gracoro Burger comes around only during the winter seasons. I'm willing to try it out if given the chance. I wonder how big the size of the burger would be. I remember that Japan has smaller sizes of burgers, fries, and drinks when compared to the United States'. Anyway, the picture does look appetizing no matter what the size.</div>

McDonalds announced they are contributing $500,000 to Hurricane Sandy via the Red Cross. This news is MAJOR considering how much the East Coast has been struggling. I actually have a friend of mine who was stuck there and couldnt fly back on time for his mothers birthday. McDonalds has yet again shown how adapting to situations and supporting by giving back to the people comes a long way. 500k is a lot of money regardless of how small or large a company may be but, its the principle behind it that counts. Kudos to McDonalds for helping out!</div>

The McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade takes place on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Chicago, on State Street from Congress to Randolph. It is a live event from 8:00a.m to 11:00a.m.<br />
<br />
This is a cherished annual event.<br />
<br />
Each year, the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade features top marching bands from all over the country, including Georgia, Florida and Ohio. This event also includes Chicagoland’s best high school bands, featuring performances The Parade includes performers and special guests representing every part of the country including ANTM winner Jaslene Gonzalez.<br />
The Parade was originally called the Christmas Caravan in the 1930’s. Back then it was created to help lift the spirits of residents suffering through the Great Depression. Since that time, it has developed into a full-scale spectacle that celebrates the holiday season. An attempt to boost Chicago’s economy has evolved into a cherished holiday tradition for Chicagoans and Americans alike.<br />
<br />
Supporting sponsors of the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade include: McDonald's Owner Operators of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, Case New Holland, and MB Financial Bank.<br />
McDonald’s Owner Operators of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana represent more than 100 owner/operators and nearly 500 restaurants throughout the greater Chicagoland region. Clearly, this is alot of land to cover and alot of locations to service. MOCNI manages and facilitates all marketing, sports, community relations, educational and philanthropic programs throughout the region, and is responsible for implementing and maintaining consistency at every Chicagoland restaurant.<br />
<br />
Regardless of the city or state McDonalds is around the way. I personally love this event because it started off as a campagin to help one issue and wound up helping another in a major way. The GREAT! part is this event is still alive and thriving and making thousands smile which mcdonalds is known best for! Theres no holiday that McDonalds team has not thought about which I agree is a major reason while McDonalds is highly profitable and marketable. They are branded 100% everywhere they want to be and more!!!!<br />

<br /><div>
During October, McDonald's Japan has been doing a special sale: "all French fry sizes are 150 yen per order." This means that ordering large sized fries is now a bargain. Some people are taking advantage of this sale and held their own "potato party", in which they order a huge number of fries, and then "upload the images to Twitter or their own blogs." However, others are somewhat upset that not all of the fries will be eaten, which means wasted food. According to the article, "In Japan, you are expected to clean your plate. Not doing so is seen as wasteful. And being wasteful in Japan is a sign of bad manners." Anyway, for the group of kids who ordered sixty French fries, the eating went on for three hours while the adjacent walkway was packed with their friends who watched and took photos. Many criticized the "potato party" as being immature and impolite, since in Japan there are much higher expectations towards how people should act in public. I, personally, don't think it is such a big deal. In fact, I encourage the "potato party." I wonder if kids in the United States would do the same if there was a special sale of fries in American McDonald's restaurants. And if you can't finish all the fries, you can give them away to friends or take them home. Come to think of it, I would really enjoy participating in the party because I enjoy McDonald's French fries very much. I'll just need to bring a lot of ketchup.</div>

McDonald's ran a test of a Pumpkin Spice Latte in Alabama to create an expectation of possible buzz. McDonald's is in direct competition with Starbucks and Dunkin' with the introduction of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Fortunately, McDonald's has an competitive advantage over both competitors because they are the CHEAPEST!!! McDonald's is able to maintain taste, quality, and brand esteem at lower price. Another advantage is busy MacDonald's consumers do not have to make MULTIPLE trips to different locations. Mom can have her Latte, Dad can have his burger and the kids are satisfied with their Happy Meal which includes a toy and they NEVER have to step foot out of the car. HANDS DOWN McDonald's will totally dominate pumpkin latte experience between it two competitors. </div>

McDonald's Canada is revealing their methods of making the world's famous fries. The video shows the process "from the farm to all the way to the fryer." Along the way, Scott Gibson, manager of the company's supply chain, answers some of the customers' questions. The first question Gibson addresses is whether or not the potatoes used by the fast food restaurant are real. Angelo Levesque, a potato farmer, discusses how the potatoes are harvested and sorted at the farm. After that they are brought to McCain, the company's fries supplier, to be prepared before heading to restaurants. Mario Dupuis, production manager at McCain, explains that the fries are washed to remove the rocks and dirt and then put through a "peeling system." The fries are then washed in a textural solution to give it the "nice even coat we see in the restaurants." Ingredients are added to prevent the fries from greying or oxidizing. Afterwards, they are dried and fried for 45 to 60 seconds. Finally, they are frozen, packaged and shipped to restaurants. Once at the restaurants, the fries are deep-fried in 100 percent vegetable oil. They are salted with about 1 tablespoon of salt per four orders of medium fries. The fries are ready to serve at this point. The video goes though the process in detail. I find it quite entertaining and informative to watch. I am a loyal fan of McDonald's fries, so watching this video allows me to understand how they make the fries so tasty and addicting. I hope you guys enjoy watching.<br />

<br />
Mort Bank, a man who used to own McDonald's restaurants in North Dakota, sold a 20-year-old container of McJordan barbecue sauce through eBay. He saved the gallon jug of sauce after selling his McDonald's restaurants. He told The Bismarck Tribune that it was in his basement and that he would look at it occasionally. It sold for $9,995 Monday night to a buyer from Chicago. According to Bank, "Michael Jordan was the first burger that was actually named after an individual, and it had cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce, and a couple other menu items." Who ever bought the barbecue sauce must have been a Bulls fan or a Michael Jordan fan. It probably won't be a good idea to open the jug and put it on some ribs or hamburger and eat it. He would most likely get sick. I wonder what it would taste like when it was made in 1992. I don't remember seeing an advertisement on the McJordan sauce during that year. It was quite an idea to combine arguably the best basketball player in the world with a McDonald's barbecue sauce.<br />

good global citizen means helping to maintain the earth that we all live on. </span><span style="color: black;">McDonald's understands that the earth with not always be plentiful and bountiful. For this McDonald’s has made efforts to increase awareness of recycling in order to help sustain Earth. Their efforts reach from the
supply chain to their restaurants. </span></span></div>

<span style="color: #38761d;"> In the early 90's, McDonald’s Austria developed and began implementing McRecycle®.</span> McRecycle® is a waste-management concept that focuses on the input and the output of materials. Currently, packaging represents the largest group of materials made from renewable and recyclable resources. McDonald's strategic plan first includes avoiding and reducing as much waste as possible. the next part of the plan is to simply recycle everything that is left over.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #38761d;"> In order for the plan to take action materials used for packaging were processed and stripped of non-essential elements.</span> Next, specially trained employees are to guarantee correct waste separation. this occurs inside of each restaurant. The waste is then compressed and finally collected by a recycling company.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAapNUnlmVs/UH3y4QNfXzI/AAAAAAAAAIY/Prb83_5FI8E/s1600/IMG_7311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAapNUnlmVs/UH3y4QNfXzI/AAAAAAAAAIY/Prb83_5FI8E/s320/IMG_7311.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>

<br />
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="color: #38761d;"> As a result 95 percent of the restaurant’s waste from the kitchen and from the dining room is being recycled</span>. Only 5 percent goes to a landfill or the incinerator. Food waste is collected and composted. All used cooking oil is recycled into bio fuel for the company’s trucks. And there you have it America McDonald's is not wasting anything. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lastly here's a comic to laugh about and remind you to <span style="color: #38761d;">Go Green</span> and Recycle if major corporations can at least attempt to adapt this initiative so can we! <br />

<div>
It appears that the McRib sandwich is not popular enough to remain permanently on the McDonald's menu. According to the article, "The McRib, as everyone knows, is McDonald's weird, secret weapon. It comes and goes, seemingly at random, taunting the barbecue pork sandwich's famously rabid fans. Last year, the McRib dropped in the latter half of December, for instance." In my opinion, I think McRib is quite delectable. I would think that it should remain on the menu. The McRib sandwich consists of ribs, onions, pickles, and barbecue sauce in between two long sesame buns. I especially enjoy the barbecue sauce that comes with the sandwich. Like Christmas, "the McRib functions as 'a great piece of buzzy news that surprises and delights, late in the year on the marketing calendar.'" I guess it keeps customers anticipating the time when McRib will appear again. In that case, it could be a good marketing strategy.</div>

Here is the story about a McDonalds worker who won the lotto in Maryland. It was about a year ago when it all happened and just today its being put out to the public. Read more on the link provided. I didnt understand why someone would not ask for a copy of the lotto tickets when purchased as a group, why no one demanded or forced her to give up the copies. Whenever i do something in a group, I always ask for a copy and even a signature incase things like this happen, with proof of this... none of this would have happened. Also, writing a check and writing a reason would help ensure what was purchased.<br />

<br /><div>
Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey has received a Toyota Sienna as a gift from Holman Toyota of Mount Laurel, NJ. Toyota's "100 Cars for Good" program is a major philanthropic effort to give "new vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations over the course of 100 days, based on votes from the public." Ronald McDonald Houses, a charity organization, provide a "home-away-from-home" for families that have children who are hospitalized, so that they could commute near by. According to the article, " this is the second year of the 100 Cars for Good program, which kicked off in May with applicants entering for a chance to win a new Toyota. Applications were reduced to 500 finalists and certified by an independent panel of judges. Then the finalists submitted online profiles to encourage friends and supporters to vote for them on the Toyota USA Facebook page, with five finalists up for consideration by the public each day." This is great news for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. They will "use their new Toyota to transport families staying at the House to hospitals in South Jersey, Philadelphia and the surrounding region for medical treatments their children are undergoing." The organization needs the new vehicle to do their important work. It creates a good reputation to the McDonald's Corporation. I'm glad they were considered by Toyota to be awarded a new minivan.</div>

<div align="left" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"> The Monopoly Game at McDonalds is an annual
sweepstakes that has been successful in continuing for many years. Monopoly at
McDonald's offers big prizes that are worth up to a million dollars. Each prize
is won through game pieces that are placed on a food item or online. THERE IS
NO PURCHASE NESSECARY. The grand prize is one million dollars in addition to many
other cash prizes, as well as free McDonald’s food, electronics, coupons for
stores, and much more.</span></div>

<div align="left">
<span style="font-size: small;"> Moreover, McDonalds is faced with the challenge of keeping the tradition of
monopoly developed by Hasbro and keeping the buzz going for this campaign. For example,
in 2004, McDonalds introduced an online game that gave in-store players a
“Second Chance to Win.” In 2006, McDonalds switched from offering merchandise
prizes to emphasizing cash winnings. as a result, in each of the last three
years, October sales jumped 5% to 6% each year.</span></div>

</span></div>
<div align="left">
<span style="font-size: small;">McDonald's research suggests that customers who didn't join the game in the
first two weeks were less likely to play at all and another change was made.
The $5 million grand prize offered in 2006 was replaced with four weekly grand
prizes of $1 million.</span></div>
